Working-email confirmation
We verify the mentor controls a current corporate email at the firm they claim — the actual @firm.com address, not a Gmail. The email is never shown to askers.
LinkedIn cross-check
We pull their LinkedIn profile and confirm employer, title, and tenure match what they put on AskMomo. Career history is sanity-checked against the experience they advertise.
Human 1:1 video call
A real AskMomo team member meets every mentor on video. We confirm they are who they say, that they actually know their craft, and that they take the responsibility seriously.

We deliberately don't list every check. Some of it is signal we'd rather not telegraph to bad actors trying to game the badge. The point: a real human at AskMomo decided this mentor is the real deal.
If a mentor wears the verdant check on their profile, AskMomo stands behind their credentials. If we ever revoke a verification — because someone changed jobs, left the field, or fell short of our standards — the badge comes off the same day.
Common questions
Can a mentor pay to get verified?
No. Verification is granted, never sold. We don't accept upgrades, promotions, or sponsored slots.
What happens if a verified mentor changes firms?
They tell us, we re-verify against the new employer, and the badge stays. If they don't tell us and we catch it, the badge comes off immediately and they go to the back of the queue.
Why aren't all mentors verified?
Verification takes our team a few days per mentor. New mentors join AskMomo unverified and stay that way until we've gone through every step.
I'm a mentor — how do I get verified?
Apply from your mentor dashboard. You'll get an email asking for your work-email confirmation, LinkedIn URL, and a 15-minute video slot. Most mentors are verified within a week.
